Good morning! What do you want to do in your life, what places do you want to visit or goals do you want to accomplish?
Sadly, very few people have the initiative to actually DO them! Seriously, I know people who are nearly 80 years old, with lifelong dreams to visit Israel or to go abroad, and they still haven’t gone. Life is short… and before you know it, you could be “that” person, as well – unless you do something about it NOW.
Maybe you think you can’t afford it, don’t have time or worried about the kids. But listen, friend, there is never a shortage of things to spend money or time on.
The thing is, if you don’t tell your time and money where to go, it will so easily get sucked into entertainment, gas station hot dogs, Starbucks… and slowly, move you further and further away from your dreams. General Electric CEO Jack Welch, said it well: “Control your own destiny or someone else will!”
Honestly, the real problem is not that these goals or dreams are unachievable, it’s a simple confusion of priorities. If your life goal is to travel to Israel, don’t you think it should be a higher priority than a Starbucks run every morning?
If your goal involves going back to school, maybe you should take night classes instead of lounging in front of the television every evening. You will always encounter obstacles, but if you put HALF as much energy into overcoming those obstacles, instead of complaining about them, you just might get where you want to go!
You were born with an adventurous spirit. I bet if I could talk to your mother, she would rave about what a charismatic child you were, growing up. But somewhere along the path, you picked up responsibilities, rejection, debt – and stopped investing into that drive and excitement you used to have for your life.
This morning, let me encourage you to pick-up those dreams again. Start thinking – for real – about what you want to accomplish in your life and make it a priority in this new season. Instead of focusing on barriers standing between you and that goal, figure out the baby steps you can take daily to move you closer to it.
