Wealth is a noun, while rich is an adjective. If someone says, “I am rich,” this means their life is filled with blessings or trappings of success. It is wonderful for someone to want to become rich, as long as it does not cloud their value system or the vision of who they are. Wealth is a thing a measurement of time. Wealth is the length of time you can sustain your accustomed standard of living (expenses) without needing to acquire more money to pay for it. For example, if your monthly cost of living is $5,000 a month, and you have $100,000 in the bank, then your wealth is 20 months. This means that you could continue living your life with no new income for 20 months before your well runs dry. Would you feel wealthy in this scenario? Probably not. Heaven forbid you lose your job tomorrow and you could not find work. You would be out on the street in less than two years. That fear would cause a person not to feel secure. And security is an important human drive. We all want it. So to me, true wealth is having enough money to live comfortably and securely for the balance of your years on earth, even without working to earn another dollar.
